ELTO
The Employers’ Liability Tracing Office (ELTO) has replaced the previous voluntary Employers’ Liability Code of Practice (ELCOP) tracing service.
ELTO is designed to provide a simple tracking service to identify an insurer of a policy that may have expired some years before when the employees illness or sickness symptoms may have taken decades to emerge. The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) are planning to make it compulsory for all insurers to provide details of their Employers Liability policies to allow the tracking of policies by claimants via the Employers’ Liability Database. As of April 2012 the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) have made it compulsory for all members of ELTO to provide details of their Employers Liability policies to allow the tracking of policies by claimants via the Employers’ Liability Database.
CGICE are members of ELTO and have been collecting the data via our online platform since 2011 and therefore all of our brokers will need to supply the Employers Reference Number (ERN) when submitting a new enquiry, endorsing an existing policy or at renewal of an existing policy. It is an Insurers responsibility to ensure all compulsory data is available for upload to the Employers’ Liability Database (ELD) within the FCA rules and timelines.
